What the D-10 points system measures

D-10-1 is a job-seeker status for eligible graduates looking for professional work in Korea. When the general points table applies, the structure requires at least 60 out of 190 total points and at least 20 basic points from age and highest education. Some Korean-university graduates may qualify for a points exemption depending on graduation timing and Korean proficiency, so not every graduate uses the same calculation.

• Basic points: age and highest education
• Selective points: relevant job-search experience, study in Korea, and Korean proficiency
• Bonus points: qualifying recommendations, selected universities, or recognized programs

A practical calculation example

This example assumes that the general table applies and every claimed item is accepted with proper evidence.

1. Age 28: 15 age points
2. Korean bachelor's degree: 15 education points
3. Korean study history, graduated within three years: 30 points
4. TOPIK level 4: 15 Korean-language points
5. No relevant work experience: 0 experience points

The total is 75 points, with 30 basic points from age 15 plus education 15. Under these assumptions, the applicant exceeds both the 60-point total and 20-point basic threshold. The age band is determined on the application date, however, and the award can change with the degree date, TOPIK validity, evidence format, and any exemption. A calculated 75 does not guarantee immigration approval.

A realistic order for improving your score

First confirm the 20 basic points, then focus on Korean proficiency and evidence you can improve within a short period.

• Check the recognized TOPIK or Korea Immigration and Integration Program level and valid document.
• Calculate exactly whether three years have passed since your Korean degree.
• Make experience letters show employer, dates, duties, and relevance to your field.
• Check translation, notarization, or apostille requirements for overseas experience early.
• Address violations, tax arrears, or false-document risks that affect more than points.

Stay period and evidence for extensions

Effective October 29, 2025, D-10 job seeking for Korean-university graduates was expanded to one year per grant and up to three years total, with an internship at one company allowed for up to one year. See the Ministry of Justice official D-10 reform release.

The maximum does not guarantee three years from the start. At extension, immigration may review continuous job seeking, application, interview and internship records, finances, lawful stay, and disqualifying factors. D-10 also does not authorize every form of low-skilled work, so confirm the permitted scope of internships and part-time activity before signing.

Preparing for E-7 and common questions

The purpose of D-10 is not simply to remain after reaching a score; it is to connect to qualifying employment. From the beginning, check the permitted occupation, major or experience, salary, and employer conditions for the target E-7 subcategory.
